History of Techno

Techno started predominantly in the US and Germany at the end of the 70s. The genre developed itself by combining electro with minimal and industrial. During the early 80s the style is clearly still going through the developing stages. A famous DJ from that time is Talla2XLC. He founded a club in 1983 that was largely focused on playing techno (and Electronic Body Music). At later stages the German techno started to get more melody in its tunes which was also due to the rise of House and New Wave.

American techno gave more melody to the genre in such a way that it became more danceable and actually drew people into the tunes whereby they could completely let go of themselves. At all times though, the industrial sound was at the base of it all.

The first time the word techno was ever used was by an American futurologist called Alvin Toffler in his book "The Third Wave" and is derived from the word "technology" based on Detroit because this was a very cultured city at that time.
