History of Clubhouse

Clubhouse became popular at the beginning of the nineties and got it’s breakthrough when DJ Jean started spinning the decks in the ‘iT’ club in Amsterdam and the ‘Danssalon’ in Eindhoven

The genre is not entirely a Dutch invention but Holland did play a major part in it at the time. Some major record labels contributing both nationally and internationally were Fresh Fruit Records en Work Records. At the time a number of clubhouse records had top spots in the dance charts.

Some years later Trance became the most popular genre of dance music but Club continued to play a major part in the world of dance music.

In 2006 Clubhouse started making it’s comeback as the most popular genre of Dance music. The genre evolved over the years, initially being called Clubhouse then between 1999 and 2005 referred to as 'Club'. Nowadays however it is simply referred to as House.

The immense popularity of (club)house in 2006 en 2007 is largely due to Erick E en DJ Roog and their fantastic Housequake and Sneakerz parties that drew in the more trendier crowds.
